Aubergine, oil on wood panel, 10 x 8 inches

Imaginarium | Adrienne Sherman

My life as an artist began in the abstract. The first 15 or so years of my work was not representational. It was not until I came under the influence of Italy in the mid-1980s and early '90s that I began thinking about doing very different work. I was taken by the artists of the Italian Renaissance and their work began to influence my own.

The first of this work began in 1991 and continues to this day, often incorporating animals in imaginative circumstances.
