A Taste of Fillamento

Fillamento, the internationally admired home and design emporium, had a two-decade run on Fillmore Street in San Francisco before closing in 2001.

Through the years, owner and impresario Iris Fuller stashed away things that caught her discerning eye — buttons, ribbon, swatches of fabric, vintage jewelry, tiny souvenirs, matchbooks. She kept them on a baker's rack, each tray holding items of a different color, just as Fillamento was arranged by color.

Now, working in assemblage, she has created shadowboxes of artfully arranged miniature monochromatic treasures. They include bits and pieces from Fillamento, combined with other treasures from a lifetime of collecting.
