LIN FISCHER
“I use painting as a way to get in touch with a higher power," says Lin Fischer. "Images occur to me and I create them. I trust the paint and my hand to do the job. The brain seems to have little to do with it.”
Born in Healdsburg, Lin Fischer is a third generation Northern Californian who grew up in Sacramento. She earned a BFA in painting at the University of California, Davis, where Wayne Thiebaud was head of the fine arts department and Roland Peterson was an influential instructor. Her MFA came from the Academy of Art in San Francisco.
She has taught at the Academy of Art and the California College of the Arts, among other places, and also works with private students in her studio in Berkeley.
